Totally restored 1961 Jeep Willys CJ6

1961 Jeep WillysCJ6. Willys was a brand name used by Willys Overland Motors, an American automobile company best known for its design and production of military Jeeps (MBs) and civilian versions (CJs) during the 20th century. In 1908, John Willys bought the Overland Automotive Division of Standard Wheel Company and in 1912 renamed it Willys Overland Motor Company. From 1912 to 1918, Willys was the second-largest producer of automobiles in the United States after Ford Motor Company.


Over $30K has been invested in this frame off restoration as per the previous owner. Power is derived from a Jeep 4 Cylinder gas engine fitted to a manual transmission and transmitted through a four wheel drive system. The engine, transmission, 4wd system and everything else has either been rebuilt or replaced with new parts. The brakes have been updated to front discs with a dual reservoir master cylinder. All work was done by professional mechanics, body shop, etc. Completely rewired and fitted with new glass, brand new period tires. The vehicle was stripped to bare metal and fully repaint in Grey. The frame was refinished with POR15 anti rust paint. Factory steel wheels that are chip resistant have also been fitted and new Firestone military tires have been mounted. It comes equipped with a hard to find removable rear tire carrier mount with spare tire and Jerry can.   The bucket seats have been reupholstered as was the rear bench seat. a roll bar. has been added. There is a built in storage compartment under the passenger seat. A Hi Lift Jack, Krazy Beaver shovel and fire extinguisher have also been mounted to the roll bar. The driver’s seat has been adjusted for long legs! Hella Driving lamps have been recently installed. New airplane style switches have been installed on the dashboard for electrical. The odometer reflects total miles since the restoration.


By the way, builder has named the truck Lucy!  Not sure why, but that’s what we have been told.
